She arrived at work early in order to make tea and prepare cookies for the day's patients. The clinic, in Lebanon, provided pre- and post-natal care to Palestinian women from a nearby refugee camp. She was followed. When she unlocked the clinic door, the assassin shot her three times in the head at point-blank range.

Something that looked like a rock was hurled onto the stage. It skidded across the platform and landed backstage. There was a loud boom. Some thought the sound system was acting up again. The boom left two 19-year-old women dead. They were preparing to perform a cultural dance for an outreach project in the Philippines.

He had stayed up half the night praying for the needs of Turkey. Despite the late night, he was awake to hear the early-morning knock on the door of his Turkish home. He asked who was on the other side. There was no answer. His newly pregnant wife was lying in bed and heard five gun shots. She ran to the door and saw her husband slumped on the floor.
