What is Global Action?

Global Action is Operation Mobilization's one and two year, hands-on missions training and evangelism program. Global Action shares OM's overall purpose:

"OM's role in the body of Christ is to motivate, develop and equip people for world evangelism,  and to strengthen and help plant churches, especially among the unreached in the Middle East, South and Central Asia and Europe."

This initiative by OM aims to mobilize and train a new generation of Christian workers who  will take the Gospel to the unreached peoples of the world.

What is Global Service?

Global Service is OM's two-years (and longer) opportunity for people with professional, technical, ministerial or clerical skills. While Global Action provides missions training, exposure, and experience, Global Service is primarily for  those who want to invest the skills they have to help accomplish the overall taskof global evangelization through OM.

What are the requirements before joining OM?
  • Be at least 17 years of age, having completed high school.
  • Have been a Christian at least one year.
  • Be recommended by your local church.
  • Complete the application process to join Global Action/Global Service.
  • Attend an OutBound candidate training conference held 4 times a year at our office in Atlanta. OutBound is a 5 night dynamic experience designed to further assess your readiness to serve and allow you a chance to experience the people and passion of OM in a personal way.
  • Confirm field placement. This takes place through the OM USA Personnel Office in conjunction with the OM Field Leader and applicant.
  • Raise the required amount of support for your field. See GA Financial Support Requirements for specific amounts. The figures include medical and life insurance.
  • Airfare is additional, as are passports, inoculations, and visas. Some fields have separate start-up costs. One month's support needs to be sent to our office before departure to the field. Full support must be committed before departure.
  • Attend a New Recruits Conference in Europe before joining your field.
What Role Does My Church Play?

A very significant one! Every person joining GLOBAL ACTION does so as a representative of his or her home church. Your home church sends you out, supports you in prayer and through  giving, and continues in partnership withyou throughout your time with GLOBAL ACTION.

How Will I Raise Support?

Everyone serving in OM with GLOBAL ACTION raises their own personal support from their home church, family and friends. The amount of support you will need depends on the field you  choose to go to. (See GA Financial Support Requirements for specific figures.) Training and materials will be provided.
Note: Support figures include medical and life insurance. Air fare is addtional,  as are passports, inoculations, and visas. Some fields have separate start-up costs,  as listed below. One month's support needs to be sent to OM USA before departure to the field. Full support must be committed before departure.

What Are The Age Requirements?

People 17 and older may apply! Couples and families are welcome, too.

What Ministry Training will I receive?

Each of the 3 tracks ('Training and Evangelism Teams', 'Special Ministry Team's, and 'Support Teams') include training that will provide a biblical foundation for personal growth and effective service. The training is made up of three parts:

  • Orientation - before you get to your field and immediately after you arrive.
  • Study program - based on 8 core study modules used by OM teams around the world.
  • Field-based training - to equip you for effective service through language study and ministry training.
Can I join OM if I have a school loan?

Following are three basic options for students who have school loans.

  • Work to pay off loans before joining.
  • Make arrangements for someone to cover your loan payments. (OM cannot do this for you.)
  • Defer payment if going for 1-2 years only.
