Financial Matters

OM USA is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial accountability and is audited annually by Capin and Crouse. The ministry is conducted under the leadership of a Board of Trustees.

Missionaries:
Each individual or family unit trusts the Lord to provide support by building a prayer and support team through communicating the ministry of OM, personal ministry vision and their financial needs. Support raising is based on relationships. Gifts for support are transferred monthly to the fields (minus 7% admin.) to be used for personal and ministry expenses. Missionaries receive a monthly gift report. Donors receive tax-deductible receipts for gifts given under the authority of the US Board.

Projects:
Communication for projects is made via the USA office. Gifts received are designated for the project and transferred monthly (minus 12% admin.) to the field. Donors receive tax-deductible receipts.

Administrative costs:
5% of all support gifts and 10% of all field or project gifts received in the USA office is used to provide services to our missionaries and ministries around the world. A further 1% goes to help with international coordination/administration and 1% into a Global Impact Fund for ministry needs and initiatives.

OM is truly international. 85% of our personnel are from outside North America. We operate on a team basis, pooling most of our resources. This means that the standard of living for all team members is basically the same within each field. There are, of course, special allowances for the needs of families and longer-term personnel. As long as national workers are functioning in their own country, the amount of personal support they are responsible for varies from country to country. In India, the national workers are largely supported by international funds. On the other hand, a British worker serving in England must be fully supported. A single person from the US might have a support target of $600-1200/month, plus travel and start-up costs. Couples support targets range from $800-2600/month. Families require a minimum of $1500/month plus $300/month for children under 13 and $350/month for children 13 and over. In many countries, a personalized budget is developed for couples and families.
