I was quite surprised to find this on the wall of a Hindu temple in Delhi. The swastika, used as a symbol of Nazism in the western world, is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. To them the swastika is a symbol of good fortune and well being. Many houses in India have this symbol above the front door of their home. |
