Finding a hot and holy passion for Jesus in the western church today is much
like looking for a needle in a haystack. We can be fundamental, evangelical,
culturally relevant, seeker friendly, technologically slick, environmentally
conscious, holistically inclusive, politically correct, and internationally known,
but without passion for Jesus we are busily building little more than a rickety
house of religious matchsticks. On the last day Jesus will not applaud and
reward our prestige, popularity, programs, position, preaching, or plethora
of religious presumptions. He will find gold only in passion for Himself.
