Do I need to know the language?
A translator on the field will be part of all our trips. Of course, it always helps to know a few words before leaving if possible to relate to the people.
Do I provide my own funds?
We prefer to work with you to build a support team that will send you. It presents to your support team an opportunity to be involved in advancing God's Kingdom through someone they know personally. This is an incredible blessing as you see God work through others to supply for your trip. Providing for your trip personally is also an option.
What are the conditions like?
The living conditions are intentionally kept humble. Usually we will stay in someone's home, a very meager hotel, or even a church. The conditions are kept this way for several reasons. First, living similar to how those we serve with helps us identify with their culture. It also moves you to an uncomfortable place where you can be used by God. By not staying in "the American hotel," we dismiss the stereotype of the spoiled westerner. All this allows us to make better bonds with those we serve and those we are serving with. It also allows the costs to remain low for the trips.
What if I don't have missions experience?
We all have to start somewhere, so lack of experience does not present a problem. We will work with you to choose a field that will best fit your experience, skills and abilities. Working within a short-term team setting can be a safe way to gain experience and perhaps to begin long term in missions.
What if I feel God pulling me to a country where there is no current trip planned?
Please contact us with those details. All opportunities may not necessarily be posted due to the sensitivity of the work involved or due to unexpected opportunities. Customized trips to match your passion and schedule can also be arranged.
